Hi my name is Grant Sitterley The first day I walked into digital photography I had no clue what to expect, like if this class was strictly just taking photos or just learning the mechanics of a camera. When I decided to take this class I just took it for a technology credit not because I wanted to take the class. But as of now I am very glad I took this class and it was so much fun and I learned a lot. Such as on the first day when we learned camera basics and the differences between cameras that I had no clue what so ever about, but would later become very handy. Like during our first photo assignment I wasn't taking great photos at all they were shot very poorly and I didn't do anything to the photo in photoshop I would simply just upload it to weebly. And probably my favorite part of the class that I have seen the most progression in from day one to now was our classes weekly photo assignment. My photo quality from that time went from terrible to incredible for me personally I took the rule of thirds into effect and really took the time to take the photo and focus. And really started to edit my photos in photoshop too. To sum up my digital photography experience I would recommend this class to anybody its a lot of fun and a class I always looked forward to. It expands your knowledge on cameras and can turn instagram photos of yours into masterpieces, all in all this was a great experience and I can't wait to take digital two. This is a slideshow of a couple of photos and photoshop edits that shows the progress I have made in digital photography from worst photos to best.

In our last assignment our class went outside to shoot motion which turned out to be very hard to do with the sunlight also making object so bright. But what I learned from this assignment is that it is a lot harder than I thought and that you have to have the correct shutter speed and pre focus and pan into the pre focus area to shoot the photo. Which like I said before is a lot harder than I thought and I hope to do this again sometime soon.
This week had to take multiple photos of ourselves and combine them into one photo which was a lot of fun and wasn't that hard to do either. I shot photos of my Joey and inside of the gym shooting hoops. I wish we had more time to do this because it was a lot of fun.
This weekends last photo assignment I decided to shoot architecture. I needed to get driving time in and since my Dad works in Detroit we went on a trip to take photos. I went all over Detroit taking pictures of classic Detroit buildings and new stylish kinds of buildings like the one above. In this photo I boosted the saturation so he greenish teal color really brings out the buildings look and I slightly brought the exposure up. This was easily my favorite photo shoot of the year and can't to do more sometime soon. In this weekend photo assignment we had the option to pick whatever photoshop idea we wanted and go with it. In my first photo I took a black and white picture of a photographer and gave the photo the retro 3D effect where I put a red layer and a cyan layer over top of the photo to get this effect. And for my second photo I took a picture of a tree and turned it into a lego brick filter/board which was the hardest one I did. I took a layer of color and I converted it to gray and had to make a stud to put over top of the brick I made and put it all together and satirize it the photo at the end. I really liked this assignment and I hope to do this someday again.
This week our photoshop assignment was to simply photoshop reality into places around are school that aren't supposed to be there. I choose to make the gym into a NBA player shoot around with a olympian running on the track in the background. I thought this assignment was a lot of fun letting us use our imagination in a photo which was so much fun.
In this weeks assignment I shot Nature, and since I live in a neighborhood close to the school and don't have any nature type of objects to shoot I came to the school this weekend. I went on the trails and found some really beautiful colored trees and leaves. But it was kind of cloudy that day so some of the colors weren't showing up that well so in photoshop I bumped the saturation up and played around with the background shadows. To conclude this shoot for nature its always hard with the weather being a factor. Throughout this weeks assignment I got better and better at shooting panoramic photos. It was tough at first to figure out how to shoot panoramic and center your photos and not go over the two third barrier where is made your photo look bad. |
